25 July: The Secret to Prosperity

When events on earth overtake us and Life’s ‘forest trail’ leads us to more tangled vines and broken branches across our path, what really is the secret to true and lasting prosperity?

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

As I write this, the Covid-19 pandemic has upturned many lives. If we didn’t catch the virus, many fell victim to it through loss of income, poverty and even starvation in various parts of the world. Closer to home, some are now facing a dead-end in their career path. Others are back to where they started from. Still others are hemmed in on every side with no choices left and wondering which way to turn. So, what catches my attention today are the secret ‘compass settings’ for ending up with true and everlasting prosperity.

If you have been following my trail of Breadcrumbs, you would have just heard an incredible speech in yesterday’s Breadcrumb given directly from the Creator of All Things: the creator of our Life Stage, the playwright and Director of the Play in which you and I are now a part. Whatever I’m about to show you over the next months, the clues in your Life-map for finding and experiencing what is right and good, will only ever be simple and unchanging: “Don’t sit, walk or stand…” in any way that leads to any level of deterioration or ultimate destruction. [v1] Instead, choose today whom you will serve[a] because those whose delight is in the principles of the Lord, and who meditates on His words day and night, that person will be like a tree planted by streams of water, yielding its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.[v2-3]

THE LORD’S PRAYER:

  1. Praise: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven …”
O Lord, my Lord, How majestic is Your name in all the earth! You’ve displayed Your splendour above the heavens yet from the mouth of infants You have established strength. [Psalm 8:1-2]
  1. Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…”

Whatever prayer or request is made by anyone or by all Your people, each knowing their own affliction and own pain, then spreading their hands toward Your house, Father God, please hear from heaven Your dwelling place, forgive, and give to each one according to all their ways, whose heart You know. [2 Chronicles 6:29-30]
  1. Admit: “…Forgive us our sin as we forgive those who sin against us…”
O my God, I’m ashamed and embarrassed to lift up my face to You, my God, for my wrong behaviour has risen above my head and my guilt has grown even to the heavens. Show grace; enlighten my eyes; revive me I pray. [Ezra 9:6&8]
  1. Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.”
Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honour and glory forever and ever. [1 Timothy 1:17]

“For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever. Amen!”

When Jesus was questioned, tested, tricked or in His hour of great need, He always spoke things that were previously written in God’s Word.[d] Following these memory verses from ten topics, will help you learn 52 verses from the bible in a year!
