A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

One could say that this chapter is “a parade of name” from ancient times. People who showed us what “real faith” looks like.

But what really is “faith”?

Faith is the substance of things hoped for (being sure of what we hope for) and the conviction of what we do not see. [v1]  It’s central for any relationship at all with the Creator God. Without it, it’s impossible to please God because anyone who wants to come to Him, has to believe that He exists in the first place, and that He rewards those who seek Him. [v6]

In all these examples of faith throughout history, God spoke and dared His people to believe what they couldn’t see. His people listened and believed, and (even if confidence was fragile) they then acted accordingly – just as Abraham did…

THE LORD’S PRAYER:

   1.   Praise: “Our Father in Heaven, how great is Your name! Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven…”

I want to arise every day and bless the Lord my God forever and ever! May Your glorious Name be blessed, Father God, and exalted above all blessing and praise! You alone are the Lord. You’ve made the heavens, with all their host; the earth and all that is on it; the seas and all that is in them. You give LIFE to them all and the heavenly host bows down before You. [Nehemiah 9:5-6]

   2.   Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…”

  • The World: Pray for the Turk & Caicos Islands[b] and Tuvalu[c]
  • Your country’s Doctors and Nurses
  • Yourself: Opportunities to share God’s Good News
  • Your concerns for today
Out of the depths I’ve cried to You, O Lord. Please, hear my voice! Let Your ears be attentive to the voice of my requests. [Psalm 130:1-2]

   3.   Admit: “…Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us…”

“‘Come now, and let us reason together,’ says the Lord, ‘though your sins are as scarlet, they’ll be as white as snow; though they’re red like crimson, they’ll be like wool.’” [Isaiah 1:18]

   4.   Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one…”

Jesus said: “He who overcomes, I’ll grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.” [Revelation 3:21]

“ For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory for ever and ever. Amen”

When questioned, tested, tricked or in His hour of great need, Jesus spoke what was previously written in God’s Word.[d] So, the final section on this page is about memorizing the script through 10 topics.
