25 September: Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde

When it comes to “being good”, I fail. But as bad as that is, today’s chapter gives me great hope…

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

I don’t know about you, but I sense real consolation waking up to a new day to see how someone like Paul (a 1st Century religious perfectionist), also struggled everyday with a sort of spiritual schizophrenia. His personal letters have been translated into more than 2,530 languages worldwide, after being miraculously preserved for 1,948+/- years so that I can read them today. Yet his personal story includes a sort of “Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde” good-person-evil-person behaviour, just like me!

In yesterday’s Breadcrumb, the Creator God demonstrated His own love for us in that, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.[a]  Today’s chapter now shows that Father God is persevering with me along my every day journey. By His Holy Spirit, He’s moving me along one step at a time, to change me from the inside out…

THE LORD’S PRAYER:

   1.   Praise: “Our Father in Heaven, how great is Your name! Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven…”

As for me, I’ll declare this forever; I’ll sing praise to You, God of Jacob! [Psalm 75:9]

2.   Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…”

Let Your ear be attentive, Lord, and may Your eyes open; hear the prayer that I’m praying before You day and night, for all Your people. [Nehemiah 1:6a]

   3.   Admit: “…Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us…”

Help me to remember, Father God, that whoever conceals their sins won’t prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces their sin, finds mercy.  [Proverbs 28:13]

   4.   Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one…”

Thank-you Lord, that if I acknowledge Your Son and don’t deny Him, I’ll not only have Him in my life but You, Father, also. [1 John 2:23]

“ For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory for ever and ever. Amen”

When questioned, tested, tricked or in His hour of great need, Jesus spoke what was previously written in God’s Word.[d] So, the final section on this page is about memorizing the script through 10 topics. Following these will help you learn 52 portions from the bible in a year! THIS WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE: Topic = A Good Caretaker

Jesus said: “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or else you’ll be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.” [Luke 16:13]
