A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

With another Remembrance Day passing us by, I’m aware again of how lucky our generation is. But if buying us peace wasn’t bad enough, some soldiers (no doubt suffering from shell shock) were executed on false charges for not firing their weapons!

In this second letter to Timothy, written in the 1st Century AD, Paul’s message crosses time and space to urge us all to remember and not forget, by “fanning into flames” what we’ve been given. [v6] Though also executed on false charges while trying to save us, Jesus went way beyond what modern soldiers could do. He saved us from a fate worse than death, by His own purpose and grace [v9] – a grace given to us before time began.[a] So then, I’m not ashamed to testify to what Christ has done to buy us peace with God. [v8] He destroyed death, and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel – the Creator God’s “good news”. [v10] May I shout HIStory from the roof-tops …lest we forget…

THE LORD’S PRAYER:

   1.   Praise: “Our Father in Heaven, how great is Your name! Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven…”

To You, Lord God Almighty, be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! [Ephesians 3:21]

   2.   Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…

“Call to me and I will answer you,” says the Lord, “I’ll tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” [Jeremiah 33:3]

   3.   Admit: “…Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us…”

Now help me to honour You Lord, the God of my ancestors, and do Your will. Help me to separate myself from the culture and ways of people around me and from anyone who’ll lure me away from following You wholeheartedly. [Ezra 10:11]

   4.   Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one…”

Though many may say to me, ‘God will not deliver you’, I still say that You, Lord, are a shield around about me. You’re my glory – the One who lifts up my head. [Psalms 3:2-3]

“ For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory for ever and ever. Amen.”
