14 June: Identifying the Counterfeit

Original, unmodified anything is difficult to find in a world saturated with copies and counterfeits…

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

In 1970 Dr N.E.Borlaug won the Nobel Peace Prize for wheat modification.[a] But decades later we have significant numbers of people worldwide (3 million in USA alone) who suffer from celiac disease and gluten intolerance. This isn’t including the related issues that arise from undigested gluten proteins sitting in your gut, such as chronic fatigue, neurological disorders, nutrient deficiencies, anemia, nausea, skin rashes and depression.[b]

Today’s chapter is about Spiritual modification and counterfeit priests. The cultivation in Israel of successive generations of modified Faith, meant that the only way to tell the difference in the end, was for one side to produce fire from heaven! [v37-39] The unfortunate thing I’ve noticed about us humans, even today, is that we can’t seem to identify the counterfeit or learn from the past. Unless there’s extreme divine intervention, or unexpected fire to hit our lives, we don’t seem to want to admit that the original Lord – the One that was here in the beginning[c] – really is God…

Wondering how to speak directly to the Creator God? The rest of this webpage uses Jesus’ own prayer to help…[d]

THE LORD’S PRAYER:

   1.   Praise: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven …”

I’ll proclaim the name of the Lord and praise the greatness of our God! He’s the Rock, His works are perfect and all His ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is He. [Deuteronomy 32:3-4]

   2.   Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…”

  • Yourself: Moral Excellence
  • Your concerns for today
Jesus said: “…I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”  [Mark 11:24]

   3.   Admit: “…Forgive us our sin as we forgive those who sin against us…”

Have mercy on me, Lord. Heal me, for I have sinned against You. [Psalm 41:4]

   4.   Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but delivers us from evil.”

Thank-you Father God that You will save Your flock, and we’ll no longer be plundered. You’ll judge between one sheep and another. [Ezekiel 34:22]

“For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever. Amen!”

When questioned, tested, tricked or in His hour of great need, Jesus spoke what was previously written in God’s Word.[f] So, the final section on this page is about memorizing the script through 10 topics. Following these will help you learn 52 portions from the bible in a year!  THIS WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE: Using our Gifting

“We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.” [Romans 12:6-8]
