23 September: HOPE won’t Disappoint

There’s few things more devastating in life than receiving promises, being handed hope, only to crash in a heap on the floor with speechless disappointment as one’s life-dreams dissipate into thin air

With Significance and Achiever as two of my strengths, I’ll often wonder if I’ve achieved anything of significance with my life. In search of a hope that won’t disappoint, I can see that every sentence in today’s chapter, is a message in itself. So, if I could pick out a Breadcrumb today, the opening sentences stand out for me…

“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we stand…” [v1-2]

More than “manna from heaven”[a] this is liquid gold, like honey on a spoon, for me. I can be at peace with my Maker today, because of the hope of access that the Creator God has given to the world. Prophesied about for at least a millennium, then put into effect 2,000 years ago, this now is the only HOPE that will not disappoint me. [v5] Like a portal through which I gain access into the fifth dimension, Father God has provided a gateway: the One who is both the gate and “the way”.[b] If I want to justify my short-comings, where else can I go? There’s no other name by which I’m saved…

Hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your servant, Father God. Teach me the right way to live. [1 Kings 8:36]

   4.  Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one…”

Thank-you Lord, that Your gracious Hand is on everyone who looks to You. But Your great anger is against all who choose instead, to forsake You. [Ezra 8:22]

“ For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory for ever and ever. Amen”
