18 April: Proof and Validation

In this country, we’re innocent until proven guilty. So proof is huge for getting to truth. In today’s chapter the Creator God validated Jesus words with proof…

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

To heal someone, with proof and proper validation, is still something very special. Each human optic nerve, for example, contains between 770,000 and 1.7 million nerve fibres. So, unless you’re an eye surgeon with incredible expertise, only God Himself can heal a man blind from birth! But what’s the proof and what’s valid, in a world that’s still awash with theories, speculation and clever tricks?

Being Sure of What You See
Being Sure of What You Think You Can See

In a completely unique way, when Jesus said “I am the Bread of Life”[a], He fed 5,000 men – besides women and children.[b]  When He said, “I am the Light of the World” [v5], He gave sight to someone who had lived in darkness from birth. [v1,20]  But although spending all his life blind, and therefore an uneducated beggar, the blind man seemed to be the only one in today’s chapter, who could see clearly:

“We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly person who does His will. Nobody has ever heard of opening the eyes of a man born blind. If this man were not from God, he could do nothing.” [v31-33]

THE LORD’S PRAYER:

   1.   Praise: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven …”

I will praise You with the stringed instruments for Your faithfulness, my God. I’ll sing praise to You with music, Holy One of all creation. [Psalm 71:22]

   2.   Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…”

When I consider the ravens, how they don’t sow or reap, Father God, they’ve got no storerooms or barns, yet You feed them. Thank-you that I’m much more valuable than birds! [Luke 12:24]

   3.   Admit: “…Forgive us our sin as we forgive those who sin against us…”

For a time I abandoned you, Lord, but with deep compassion You bring me back. In a surge of anger, You hid Your face from me for a moment. But with everlasting kindness, You’ve compassion on me because You’re the Lord, my Redeemer! [Isaiah 54:7-8]

   4.   Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but delivers us from evil.”

You reveal deep and hidden things, O God, and You know what lies in darkness because light dwells with You. [Daniel 2:22]

“For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever. Amen!”
