17 September: Shipwrecked!

Shipwrecked on the edge of the Adriatic – what a start to an autumn day!

Having survived a shipwrecked off the southern tip of South America – I wrote about this in my second book Mysterious? …Expect the Unexpected…  – I realise that most of us today don’t want bad news. We struggle with bad news and story’s, like the one in today’s chapter, because we only want to believe in a Creator who is “good”. After all, who would follow a God who has the ability to stop bad things from happening, but doesn’t!

Weirdly enough, though, it seems to me that my Maker’s “good news message” was really only “good” when I was sitting on solid ground after the shipwreck! My Maker demonstrates Himself to me, in a real way, as I watch those floating pieces out there on the waves of my life.  Those broken bits could have been me, had my Father God not saved me, as He did Paul, in just the right way at just the right time. It’s only as my senses are heighted – by experiencing the good, the bad, and the truly ugly – that I can finally see my Creator’s idea of “good”. I can finally see who I really am, in light of who He really is
