When our world appears unstable and coming apart at the seams, hidden within the text of today’s chapter is a key to the structure of LIFE…

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

Establishment & Strength - the central pillars
Establishment & Strength – two central pillars

Recently I received news that a family close to me, had become yet another statistic for marriage breakdown. What bought their lives down onto their heads, and onto the heads of their five small children, seemed to be caused by too many little things, for far too long – like unattended termites hidden in the rafters.

So, one thing stood out for me in reading today’s chapter:

“[Huram] erected the pillars at the portico of the temple. The pillar to the south he named Jakin  and the one to the north Boaz.” [v21]

The significance of these two names is in the small print at the bottom of the page. Jakin, in Hebrew, means “He shall establish”, while Boaz means “in Him is strength”. So, hidden in the text of today’s chapter is a key to the structure of LIFE. When I come to the point of saying, “I can’t do this anymore. I need divine strength just to take another step up.” In essence, I’m laying down my life, as it once was[a], and letting the Creator God do things His way. Getting up those steps, and stepping through the door to my Maker, I’ve come to notice Father God’s ability to establish me on a firm foundation[b] and strengthen me to carry my load.[c] The shining presence of these two realities towering high above my head, supports everything above and about me so that I’ll not become yet another statistic in this life. Read More? …CLICK on “07 June – Additional Notes”

THE LORD’S PRAYER:

   1.   Praise: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven …”

Mankind shall speak of the power of Your awesome acts, Lord, and I’ll tell of Your greatness. [Psalm 145:6]

   2.   Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…”

  • The World: Pray for Guadeloupe[e] and Guam[f]
  • Your Country: Teachers and Carers of Children
  • Yourself: The “Fruit of the Spirit”[g] in you
  • Your concerns for today
While I’m praying for things, let me also take heart in my sufferings, Lord, because I know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope won’t put me to shame, because Your love, Father God, has been poured out into my heart through Your Holy Spirit, who has been given to me. [Romans 5:3-5]

   3.   Admit: “…Forgive us our sin as we forgive those who sin against us…”

Thank-you Lord that You’ll again have compassion on me. You’ll tread my sins underfoot and You’ll hurl all my iniquities into the depths of the sea. [Micah 7:19]

   4.   Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but delivers us from evil.”

The breath of the ruthless is like a storm driving against a wall. But You, Lord, have been, and always will be, a refuge for the poor and the needy in their distress; a shelter from the storm, and a shade from the heat. [Isaiah 25:4]

“For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever. Amen!”

When Jesus was questioned, tested, tricked or in His hour of great need, He always spoke things that were previously written in God’s Word.[h] Following these memory verses from ten topics, will help you learn 52 verses from the bible in a year! THIS WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE: Using our Gifting
