06 March: When DIY Goes Wrong

Today’s chapter shows a DIY job that shouldn’t be forgotten quickly…

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

Taking DIY to the Limit
Taking DIY to the Limit

Knowing now all the work that my husband puts into maintaining our house, makes me wonder what happened in today’s chapter! To dig a sizable hole in someone’s roof, so that a paralytic could be lowered down through the ceiling would have caused some DIY repair after the crowds left! [v4]  But today’s story wasn’t about the roof, it was about whether or not Jesus had the authority to forgive sin. [v5-12]

So here’s the thing, and I can’t get around it: I can either approach the whole of LIFE as a sort of Do It Yourself scenario while I look for the formula for that perfect life – yet continually risk the gaping holes that regularly appear over my head. Or, I can join those who’ve noticed that something is missing in my spirit and life experience – I’ve taken DIY catastrophes to the limit and now, only my Maker can fix it. [v17]

THE LORD’S PRAYER:

   1.   Praise: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven …”

Just as those in ancient days, it has seemed good to me to declare the signs and wonders which the Most High God has done for me. [Daniel 4:2]

   2.   Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…”

Help me to always offering prayer with joy, Lord, in every prayer that I pray for others. [Philippians 1:4]

   3.   Admit: “…Forgive us our sin as we forgive those who sin against us…”

Thank-you, Lord, that Light is sown like seed for the righteous and gladness for the upright in heart. [Psalm 97:11]

   4.   Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but delivers us from evil.”

You save the humble and those who are afflicted, but the haughty won’t escape Your attention. You’re my lamp, Lord, You turn my darkness into light. [2 Samuel 22:28-29]

“For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever. Amen!”

When Jesus was questioned, tested, tricked or in His hour of great need, He always spoke things that were previously written in God’s Word.[c] Following these memory verses from ten topics, will help you learn 52 verses from the bible in a year!
