If you think you don’t count, today’s chapter shows how even the names of common people aren’t forgotten when both the Author and His Book transcend time…

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

With 7+ billion people on earth, you may wonder how can The Creator God know you by name?[a]  Has He any idea at all of what you’re going through – no matter how big or small? Well, everyone created in His image[b]  has their names written into His book of LIFE. The clue to be sure, is in the Creator God’s conversation with Moses, and nothing’s changed in the centuries between Moses and Solomon.[c]

Made in His likeness, we’re all predestined for LIFE in His Name. That being so, God is not just interested in the plight of unknown people in everyday life, He’s actually intimately aware of our story in HIStory. Today’s chapter shows that He’s followed humanity in great detail, down to the record of names (and their father’s names – so that no one will mistake which people are being talked about) and their roles at the time. [v2-19] His book even has a record of answers to things whispered in private prayers. [v29] This tells me that nothing is hidden from my Maker’s sight. The One who knows the stars by name[d], knows me…

THE LORD’S PRAYER:

   1.   Praise: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven …”

I’ll sing to You Lord, for You are highly exalted! You’re my strength and song for You have become my salvation. You’ll bring me and plant me in the mountain of Your inheritance – the place, O Lord, which You have made for Your dwelling; the sanctuary, O Lord, that Your hands have established. You, Lord, shall reign forever and ever. [Exodus 15:1,2,17&18]

   2.   Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…”

  • The World: Pray for Gibraltar[f]
  • Your Country: The hospitalised and in Care Homes
  • Yourself: Your extended family
  • Your concerns for today
This is the confidence that I have before You Lord, that, if I ask anything according to Your will, You hear me. [1 John 5:14]

   3.   Admit: “…Forgive us our sin as we forgive those who sin against us…”

If You delighted in sacrifice, I would give it, O God. But You’re not pleased with burnt offerings. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit – the obedience of a broken and a contrite heart is what You’ll never turn away. [Psalm 51:16-17]

   4.   Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but delivers us from evil.”

You’ll keep me firm to the end, Father God, so that I’ll be blameless on the Day of our Lord. For You’re my faithful God who has called me into fellowship with Your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. [1 Corinthians 1:8-9]

“For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever. Amen!”
