A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
In answer to the question: “If you had one wish today, that the Creator God could do for you, what would it be?” I’d guess that most of us would want to be in the best possible place. A place where we were designed to be, enjoying a life experience of blessing in “a land flowing with milk and honey”. But there’s a vital clue hidden in the narrative of our Maker’s epic storyline that many of us would miss if it weren’t pointed out…
“Consecrate yourselves for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things…” [v5]
I want a free gift from my Maker – the gift of crossing over to a better life.[a] But in a world where egoism is the basic ethical system, I struggle to believe that there’s a good father anywhere who’d give his kids everything he’d planned to give them (and worked hard to provide), when they’re only willing to accept it from him if it includes their will, their way, and in their own time. So, in today’s chapter, is a “golden thread”, which appears in the fabric of the Creator God’s epic storyline from beginning to end: I need to do something first, before I can get to the place where my Maker was prepared in advance for me to go. Unless I consecrate myself – or, “repent” as the later writers put it[b] and make a 180 degree U-Turn away from my old thinking, words and behaviour – I can’t tap into anything that my Holy God and Maker has ready for me to receive.[c]

3. Admit: “…Forgive us our sin as we forgive those who sin against us…”

4. Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but delivers us from evil.”
Thank-you Lord, that You didn’t send Your Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. [John 3:17]
