Coming from a divorced family, I spent my childhood “fatherless”. So adoption, and being a co-heir to my “Abba” Father’s infinite fortune in today’s chapter, is fantastic news…

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
The opening sentence in this chapter was enough for me to just fall back on my pillows this morning, and say, “Wow!” Having put my foot on the impossible road toward “righteousness” [v8], I’m instead set free today, and can live now without condemnation! [v1]
Created in my Maker’s own image[a] then bought at the highest price[b], the Creator God has brought me into an intimate family relationship through the “Saviour” – Jesus Christ! [v16-17] In other words, the backbone of sin’s curse on humanity, has finally been broken in Jesus’ one perfect sacrifice for the forgiveness of sin. [v2-4] But the Good News message is blessing-upon-blessing that doesn’t stop there. With His “spirit of adoption”, we can now call the Most High God “Abba-Father!” – English translation = “Dad”. [v15] Praise be to my “Abba-Father”, the LORD God Almighty! What a happy day this is…

THE LORD’S PRAYER:
1. Praise: “Our Father in Heaven, how great is Your name! Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven…”
I’ll sing a new song to You, my God. Just like King David in ancient times, on the ten-stringed lyre I’d like to make music to You. [Psalm 144:9]
2. Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…

Your concerns for today
I thank-you for the sign and witness that when we cry out to You, Lord God Almighty, because of our oppressors, You’ll send us a saviour and defender, and You’ll rescue us! [Isaiah 19:20]
3. Admit: “…Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us…”
I want to stand in my place and confessed my sins, Father God. I want to read from Your Word and spent time in confession and in worshipping You, my Lord and God. [Nehemiah 9:2-3]
4. Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one…”
Thank-you that I’m protected today when I recognise the Spirit of God in that, every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from You, God. But every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. [1 John 4:2-3]
“ For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory for ever and ever. Amen”
