A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
Over the past five decades I’ve learnt that my Maker hasn’t raised the standard, and then left me to my own strength, or will power, in some sort of life-long uphill battle, striving for the unattainable. Today’s chapter is a good reminder that, if there’s a battle going on at all (even just to fight for time and personal space to read my Maker’s Handbook in the first place), my daily struggle isn’t with humans. The struggle is “…against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” [v12]
Ok – Wow! But such an idea sounds more like the plight of a medieval Knight than a 21st Century housewife! And yet, if I can get my head around this one verse, and keep remembering it, I’m more likely to wake up every day, and accept the free armour that’s been crafted and designed for the Creator God’s image-bearers[a] – His “knights”[b] – in order for me not just to survive, but to thrive…
“…put on the full armour of God so that when the ‘day of evil’ comes, you’ll be able to stand my ground.” [v13]

THE LORD’S PRAYER:
1. Praise: “Our Father in Heaven, how great is Your name! Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven…”
You’re my God and I’ll exalt and praise Your name! In perfect faithfulness, Lord, You’ve done wonderful things for me, things planned for, long ago. [Isaiah 25:1]
2. Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…”
The World: Pray for the people of Serbia[d]
Your Nation: Your Police Forces
Yourself: Faithfulness with your time
Your concerns for today
I call on You in my distress, O Lord, and You answer me. [Psalm 120:1]
3. Admit: “…Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us…”
Thank-you for Your willingness to forgive, Father God. Even if a nation is warned and repents of its evil, then You’ll relent and won’t inflict on it the disaster You had planned. [Jeremiah 18:8]
4. Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one…”
Help me to fight the good fight of the faith, Lord God. Help me to take hold of the eternal life to which I’ve been called, when I made my confession in the presence of many witnesses. [1 Timothy 6:12]
“ For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory for ever and ever. Amen”
