If you’re anything like me, you’re likely to experience turbulence when someone else gains credit or “glory” for themselves from what you have said, or what you have done…

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
When credit to due and given to the right person, we feel a sense of accomplishment or right-ness within us. Equally, when we discover that someone has “stolen the glory” for a great quote or a good deed done, and we later discover that it originally came from someone else, we’re indignant! I’m particularly disappointed with modern music artists who come out with a great song, or music from another song, that I recognise from decades ago. It just doesn’t seem right!
Today’s chapter shows a moment of truth that could have cost Daniel his life. The Emperor of the Babylon Empire was enraged and ordered the deaths of all the wise men in Babylon. [v5-13] The words I cannot do it [v27] could have resulted in immediate on-the-spot execution. Still, Daniel risked death to point the glory back to the Creator God, giving Him credit for His abilities imparted upon Daniel. [v28] The question now is: am I willing to risk a bit of embarrassment, lose a friendship, or lose my credibility in order to give “the glory”, all the credit, back to Father God by pointing people towards their Creator? Amazingly, as I give my Father God credit, like Daniel in today’s chapter, it actually causes me to remember what He is capable of and remember what He has done for me…
