There are many conspiracy theories out there today. But today’s chapter is about a global agenda that’s been openly shared over 3,700 years…

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
In the movie The Bodyguard with Whitney Houston, a pool house scene shows Kevin Costner telling a complacent young chauffeur: “We’re adding to your duties.” Today’s chapter, in the Book of Acts, is a similar situation.
In the very beginning, the Creator God created two images of Himself – both male and female – with the expressed desire that they’d be like Him i.e. to take charge over what He’d created.[a] He then blessed them and told them to spread out with His authority to cultivate – to make good changes.[b] And so, the story, in today’s chapter, is about the Creator’s Good News – the news that would cause great joy for all people[c] – moving out from the inner circle of Jewish Believers to a much wider audience. It’s the start of the Creator’s God’s Global Agenda, where Jesus Followers begin to move out to the ends of the earth. The Plan: to be like our Maker; to be His image-bearers (behaving in the likeness of His Word), and bringing HIStory to the whole world.
So then, just like in the movie, my duties are being added to. Like Paul, in today’s chapter [v2], I’m also set apart for my Maker’s Glory: to be His voice[d], and bringing the message of His Global Agenda to those who are near, and those who are far off.[e]

THE LORD’S PRAYER:
1. Praise: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven …”
I’ll praise You for Your faithfulness, my God; I’ll sing praise to You, Holy One of Israel! [Psalm 71:22]
2. Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…”

Your concerns for today
Thank-you for what You’re already doing in the world, Father God. May many come joyfully to praise You in loud voices, for all the miracles they’ve seen. [Luke 19:37]
3. Admit: “…Forgive us our sin as we forgive those who sin against us…”
By my actions and attitude, Lord, help me not to set myself up against the God of Heaven. I don’t want to be someone who doesn’t honour the God who holds in His hand my life and all of my ways. [Daniel 5:23]
4. Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but delivers us from evil.”
When it comes to temptation, Father God, may I use Your motto every day: “Avoid it; Don’t pass by it; Turn away from it, and go on your way.” [Proverbs 4:15]
“For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever. Amen!”
