We love to hear great stories. But today’s chapter holds, in my opinion, the greatest story ever told…
READ MARK 12 Make notes, if you’d like, of what stands out for you. Feel free to use the “Leave a Comment” box below to also write some of your thoughts.
A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
As a parent of an only son, I really can’t imagine sending him on an errand that would cost him his life. [v1-12] If this story really isn’t a parable at all, but is instead an exact representation of fifteen centuries of history, then I sit here amazed today yet again! In silence, I remember all the messengers that I scorned, and ungratefully turned away, long before I finally listened to the One who sent them to me.
If only I fully understood this one story and who it was telling it. [v35-37] All my petty issues like paying taxes [v13-17]; finding loopholes in marriage [v18-27]; the rules I’m expected to live by if I’m to be a follower of the Creator God [v28-34]; whether I look good to others [v38-40]; or even how much money I give away [v41-44], these would all melt away into insignificance, in light of everything He’s done just to get His message through to me.

THE LORD’S PRAYER:
1. Praise: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven …”
All praise is Yours, Lord. You stretch out Your right hand and the earth swallows Your enemies. In Your unfailing love, You’ll lead the people You’ve redeemed. In Your strength, You’ll guide them to Your holy dwelling. [Exodus 15:12-13]
2. Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…”

In all my demands from You, Lord, help me to remember that without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. [Hebrews 11:6]
3. Admit: “…Forgive us our sin as we forgive those who sin against us…”
You, Father God, will again have compassion on me. You’ll tread my sins underfoot and hurl all my iniquities into the depths of the sea. [Micah 7:19]
4. Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but delivers us from evil.”
Your Word is right and true, O God. You’re faithful in all You do and You love righteousness and justice. The earth is full of Your unfailing love. [Psalm 33:4-5]
“For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever. Amen!”
When Jesus was questioned, tested, tricked or in His hour of great need, He always spoke things that were previously written in God’s Word.[c] Following these memory verses from ten topics, will help you learn 52 verses from the bible in a year!
