05 January: Surviving Global Meltdown

Many people had disregarded the Jewish version of history as irrelevant fable, that’s not to be taken seriously. But today’s chapter takes “believing the unbelievable” to a whole new level.

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

In his book, QuieTimes, Max E. Anders said that a Believer doesn’t need to worry about “random blows of fate”. If there is a Creator God in the first place, and if He created us in His own image to be like Him, then we can be sure that He’ll protect His investment. So what interests me as I read this chapter, is the Creator’s salvation plan. After digging a bit deeper, and piecing together the puzzle pieces dotted about in the first six chapters, I wonder if this 7th Chapter isn’t a judgement story at all. The Playwright is actually telling us His story of salvation in history so that we can trust Him for planning and preparing our salvation in our future.

The 100-Year Warning

It seems to me that, if our Maker can bring uneducated animals, birds and insects to an ark in time to survive a global meltdown, He can certainly draw humans to Himself today.[a]

THE LORD’S PRAYER:

   1.   Praise: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven …”

Lord thank-you that You hear the cries of the victims of injustice. You’ve promised to certainly hear their cry. [Exodus 22:23]

   3.   Admit: “…Forgive us our sin as we forgive those who sin against us…”

Thank-you God that if Your people, who are called by Your Name, humble themselves and pray and seek Your face and turn from their wicked ways, then You’ll hear from heaven. You’ll forgive their sin and will heal their land. [2 Chronicles 7:14]

   4.   Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but delivers us from evil.”

Through You, Lord, I’ve gained access by faith into this grace in which I now stand. And I boast now in the hope of the glory of God. [Romans 5:2]

“For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever. Amen!”
