04 January: Kerbing Corruption

It’s hard to believe that behaviour across the world could get so bad that a global catastrophe becomes necessary for the long run…

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

Feeling comfortably warm under a blanket in a quiet room, the peace of this grey January day can almost be felt. The only movement that tells me there’s still something alive on earth, besides me, is the occasional bird in flight above the roof of our neighbour’s house. Looking out with my perspective, the world isn’t that bad at all. But the clue to understanding the Creator God’s behaviour, in today’s chapter, doesn’t come from our perspective, but comes from how He sees things…

“Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight  and was full of violence.  God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways.” [v11-12]

From where I sit, I think it’s easy to enjoy the grace, provision and peace that I’ve been given, but ignore the news headlines every day, and forget to engage with/pray for/do something about what’s really going on

“For the sake of the victims in every country on earth, Lord, please kerb the corruption. Do something monumental once more.”…Read More? … CLICK to follow “04 January – Additional Notes”

But what about your thoughts – can you tell me what today’s “breadcrumb” is? Leave a note in the “Comments” box below to tell me what you think of today’s chapter.

Wanting to tell your Maker what’s concerning you about this world? The rest of this webpage uses Jesus’ own prayer to help…[a]

THE LORD’S PRAYER:

   1.   Praise: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven …”

Who Lord, among the gods is like you? Who is like the Lord God Almighty – majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders. [Exodus 15:11]

     2.   Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…”

  • The World: Issues you know of around the World[b]
  • Your Country: Those caught in addictions
  • Yourself: Faithfulness with your talents[c]
  • Your concerns for today
Hear my voice when I call, Lord. Please be merciful to me and answer my prayer. [Psalm 27:7]

3.   Admit: “…Forgive us our sin as we forgive those who sin against us…”

When the heavens are shut up and there’s no rain in my life because I’ve sinned against You, and when I pray towards Your dwelling place and give praise to Your Name and turn from my sin because You’ve afflicted me, then hear from heaven and forgive my sin. Teach me the right way to live, and send the rain once more. [2 Chronicles 6:26-27]

4.   Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but delivers us from evil.”

Jesus said: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. [John 14:6]

“For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever. Amen!”

When Jesus was questioned, tested, tricked or in His hour of great need, He always spoke things that were previously written in God’s Word.[d] Following these memory verses from ten topics, will help you learn 52 verses from the bible in a year!
