A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

The people were looking for a King, but those in power wanted to kill any usurper. [v47-48]  As it turned out, Jesus’ behaviour seemed to shock them all. In tears, He prophecies the downfall of Jerusalem at the hands of the Romans in AD70. [v41-44]  Instead of a King that would save them, He turned the Temple upside down! [v45] It seemed that nothing had changed in 6-8 centuries because Jesus used both Isaiah’s and Jeremiah’s words against them. [v46]

But Jesus hadn’t come as a political leader of an earthly kingdom.[c] What He wept over is what He’s still concern for us today: “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes.” [v42]

Thank-you, Lord, because You’ve made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm, nothing is too difficult for You! You show lovingkindness to thousands, O great and mighty God. The Lord of hosts is Your name! [Jeremiah 32:18-19]
  1. Admit: “…Forgive us our sin as we forgive those who sin against us…”
If I love you, Lord, I’ll keep Your word. Father God will love me, and You’ll come to me and make Your abode with me. But he who does not love You won’t keep Your words. These words which I hear are from Father God. [John 14:23-24]
  1. Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but delivers us from evil.”
You Lord are a stronghold for the oppressed – stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know Your name will put their trust in You, for You, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You. [Psalm 10:9-10]

“For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever. Amen!”
