30 September: HOPE!

The strapline for this website is: ‘HOPE in Turbulent Times’, but I’m not sure how much I’m talking about either of these two. Then, I opened up today’s chapter…

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

Whatever life throws at us, whatever we have to endure and persevere through, whoever we are, and in whatever living environment, regardless of age or culture, whether we’re rich or poor, free or oppressed, and no matter what generation in human history, the Creator God’s epic storyline is a message of HOPE for our instruction. [v4] Nestled within teaching about our new ‘family culture’ – not living by the value system of this world, but instead changing over to live as migrants in a sub-culture guided by the value system of the Kingdom of our Father God [v5-8] – lovely words of HOPE catch my eye today…

“Now may the God of Hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you’ll abound in HOPE by the power of the Holy Spirit.” [v13]

The Creator God’s Word is designed to be HOPE – the Hope Of People Everywhere. Why? What’s His plan? So that those who’ve not received news of Him will see; and those who’ve not heard, will understand! [v21]

THE LORD’S PRAYER:

   1.   Praise: “Our Father in Heaven, how great is Your name! Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven…”

In You God, whose Word I praise, and in the Lord, whose word I praise—I trust in God and I’m not afraid. [Psalm 56:10-11a]

   2.   Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…”

  • Your Nation: The policies on what’s taught in schools
  • Yourself: Your personal security and safety of your family
  • Your concerns for today
I can stand on history today, Father God, knowing that You are a God who hears the prayers of Your people, and the plea that I’ve made before You. [1 Kings 9:3]

   3.   Admit: “…Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us…”

Every day when I get it wrong, Lord, please help me to get wisdom and understanding so that I don’t forget Your words, or turn away from them. [Proverbs 4:5]

   4.   Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one…”

Thank-you Lord God Almighty, that the one who’s victorious will be dressed in white. You’ll never blot out the name of that person from Your Book of Life. I’ll be acknowledged before my Maker and His angels. [Revelation 3:5]

“ For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory for ever and ever. Amen”

When questioned, tested, tricked or in His hour of great need, Jesus spoke what was previously written in God’s Word.[c] So, the final section on this page is about memorizing the script through 10 topics. Following these will help you learn 52 portions from the bible in a year! THIS WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE: Topic = A Good Caretaker
