A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

In a climate of extreme change, many are concerned over the effects on the environment for the next generation. Like a legacy handed to our children and grandchildren, what are we doing today that should be corrected? Since my mother’s childhood, nurtured within conservative traditional values, the world seems to have turned inside out!

So, when I read King Josiah’s words in today’s chapter: “Great is the Lord’s anger poured out on us because those who have gone before us have not kept the word of the Lord…” [v21], I feel concern. How flippant are we with political and cultural changes – writing them off under the umbrella of progress. We seem concerned more with keeping up and not being outdated, then thinking carefully about the knock-on effects that our choices and changes will have on the next generation. More than that, I’m actually handing to my children and grandchildren “the new norm” – a legacy without testing. I need to find again what’s been lost – what’s strong, sure and true that’s never failed before. Then, hold with care until I pass on these ‘foundation stones’ as part of my next generation’s legacy…

THE LORD’S PRAYER:

   1.   Praise: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven …”

  • Your concerns for today
Father, I have concern for insignificant things that are here today and gone tomorrow. In comparison, You have compassion for people, cities and everything within them. Thank-you that You care greater than I do. [Jonah 4:10-11]

   3.   Admit: “…Forgive us our sin as we forgive those who sin against us…”

Who can discern his own errors, Lord? Please acquit me of my hidden faults. [Psalm 19:12]

   4.   Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.”

Thank-you Lord God that your salvation plan and promises in Faith, extends not just to me but to my whole household.  [Acts 16:31]

“For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever. Amen!”
