27 February: A 21st Century Illusion

I’m continually amazed at the accuracy of ancient prophecies for current world affair. If Moses had a crystal ball to see into the future, he couldn’t have been any more exact…

READ DEUTERONOMY 32  Make notes, if you’d like, of what stands out for you. Feel free to use the “Leave a Comment” box below to also write some of your thoughts.

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

Blue/Black or White/Gold?

Blue/Black or White/Gold?

About three and half thousand years ago, a man died in the Middle East leaving behind a song. But what are the chances of a lady reading those lyrics more than 35 centuries later, and clearly seeing an exact prediction of global events soon to take place? The trouble is, we may be facing a 21st Century illusion – like the optical illusion on the infamous White/Gold or Blue/Black dress, which has sparked a huge online debate and talked about on Radio 1 today. What’s clear to one person and very easy to see, is impossible to see for another.[a]

At the end of his life, the greatest prophet to ever live[b] speaks a prophecy out over the universe [v1], and it’s all about of the rise and fall of humankind: “They’re corrupt and not the Creator’s children. To their shame they’re a warped and crooked generation. Is this the way you repay the Lord, you foolish and unwise people? Is He not your Father, your Creator, who made you and formed you?” [v5-6]

I can see that the lyrics in v15-18 are the same the world over. The Lord saw this and rejected every one of us[c] because He was angered by His sons and daughters. [v19]  The song lyrics from v23-27, v34 and v40-42 could have been lifted almost word-for-word from the Book of Revelation – except that Moses’ song was written 18 centuries before.

What stood out for me today was the secret clue hidden between the lines and it tells us in which generation all this will take place: “Their vine comes from the vine of Sodom and from the fields of Gomorrah.” [v32] What was the fruit of Sodom?[d]  Now measure that visible sign against what’s flooded across the globe in recent years. But here’s the good news and, just as it has always done[e], it takes in every nation on earth…

“Rejoice, you nations, with His people, for He will avenge the blood of His servants. He’ll take vengeance on His enemies (human and angelic) and will make atonement for His land (the earth is His and all things in it) and His people.” So the only question left to be answered is: Do I want to be part of a 21st Century illusion or will I instead, use what I see with my own eyes to put myself into the Maker’s group? …Read More… CLICK on “27 February – Additional Notes”

But what about your thoughts – can you tell me what today’s “breadcrumb” is? Leave a note in the “Comments” box below to tell me what you think God is saying to you, through today’s chapter.

THE LORD’S PRAYER:

   1.   Praise: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven …”

I’ll proclaim the name of the Lord and praise the greatness of my God! He’s my Rock. His works are perfect and all His ways are just. A faithful God, He does no wrong. Upright and just is He. [Deuteronomy 32:3-4]

   2.   Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…”

  • The World: Pray for the people of Azerbaijan[f]
  • Your Country: Those trapped in debt and credit abuse
  • Yourself: A greater desire for moral excellence
  • Your concerns for today
Father God, help me to think positively about my distress as it comes in any form, because I know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; character, hope and hope does not disappoint. [Romans 5:3-5]

   3.   Admit: “…Forgive us our sin as we forgive those who sin against us…”

May I be one of those who love the Lord and hate evil. He guards the lives of His faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked. [Psalm 97:10]

   4.   Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but delivers us from evil.”

Thank-you Lord that it’s You who will fight for Your people. I need only to be still. [Exodus 14:14]

“For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever. Amen!”

THIS WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE: Topic = The Creator’s Will

“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” [Romans 8:28]
