25 September: Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde

Today’s chapter is all about the lifetime journey that humans are on and what’s ahead until we reach our destination…

I don’t know about you but I feel a real consolation waking up on a new day and see how someone like Paul also struggled everyday with a sort of spiritual schizophrenia. His personal letters have been translated into more than 2,530 languages worldwide, after being miraculously protected for 2,000 years, along with the other Biblical books, so that I can read them today. Yet his personal story included Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde good-person-evil-person behaviour just like me!

Sometimes I don’t get bible writers like Paul. He seems to be too clever for me. But what I do get, a thank God for. He knows my heart’s desire: to live upright and acceptable just as I was designed to do. Now I see that He’s also given me His Holy Spirit to work in and through me. Yesterday’s “breadcrumb” looked at how our Maker demonstrated His own love for us in that, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.[a]  In today’s chapter, Father God is persevering with me on my every day journey. His Holy Spirit is moving me along one step at a time, in the right direction from the inside out.

Wondering how to talk with your Maker? The rest of this webpage uses Jesus’ own prayer to help you…

   1.   Praise: “Our Father in Heaven, how great is Your name! Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven…”

As for me, I will declare this forever; I will sing praise to the God of Jacob! [Psalm 75:9]

2.   Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…”

  • Yourself: Using your freetime and hobbies for God
  • Your concerns for today
Let your ear be attentive, Lord, and may Your eyes open to hear the prayer that I’m praying before You day and night for all Your people. [Nehemiah 1:6a]

   3.   Admit: “…Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us…”

Father help me to remember that whoever conceals their sins won’t prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces their sin finds mercy.  [Proverbs 28:13]

   4.   Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one…”

Thank-you Lord that if I acknowledge Your Son and don’t deny Him, I’ll not only have Him in my life but the Father also. [1 John 2:23]

“ For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory for ever and ever. Amen”

THIS WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE: Topic = A Good Caretaker

Jesus said, “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or else you’ll be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.” [Luke 16:13]
