When things go wrong for me, I often self-analyze and wonder if I’m deaf, dumb, or blind to my Maker and what He’s trying to teach me. A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
Looking back to the days when I began processing the concept of the existence and involvement of the Creator God in everyday life, I relate to the terms: deaf, dumb, and blind. I saw and experienced great trials; I had been given signs that my Maker was alive and at work; I surveyed the great wonders of His creation; and (beginning first with my car accident when I was nineteen), I had come face-to-face with moments that, quite miraculously, defied physics, logic, or the law of probability. Still, without a spiritual perspective, it was as if I were deaf, dumb, and blind to my Creator God. [v2-4]
Today’s chapter shows that it actually wasn’t possible for me to “follow the terms of the covenant” [v9] without divine intervention in my heart and mind. [v4] For one thing, my Maker has given a level of perception or conscious awareness, to believe that an “agreement” exists in the first place! It’s a real agreement that the Creator God has made on oath with humankind. Incredibly, it’s not just with those who were standing there at the time, but also an agreement with any one of us who were not there that day. 3. Admit: “…Forgive us our sin as we forgive those who sin against us…”
Open for me the gates of the righteous, Lord God. Then I’ll enter in and give thanks to You. [Psalm 118:19]
4. Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.”
Thank-you, Father God, that if I acknowledge that Jesus is the Son of God, then by Your Spirit You live in me and I in You. [1 John 4:15]
“For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever. Amen!”
