A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

Even back in the first century AD, the concept of people being idle, becoming busy-bodies [v11], and earning the bread they eat [v12], were real social issues. In today’s chapter, a Jewish teacher named Paul, introduced this rule…

“If a man does not work, he shall not eat” [v10]

…and it’s been the backbone concept behind every structured society throughout the centuries. This is because the Creator God has created His image-bearers for so much more than just existing. We have a unique purpose, in a specific plan with a divine calling.

So I can claim the benefits of knowing the Creator God, and yet not be like Him as I was designed to be. This is the same Creator who’s continually at work on a 24/7 basis for my benefit. So my job is to reach high and wide as I build with gold, silver and costly stones. [a] I want to be proud that I’ve made my Maker proud[b], when the court is seated and the books are opened[c] …when I see Him face-to-face.
