03 September: Project Management

The success of any project relies heavily on many contributing elements and, the project team ranks top of the list. But the launch of this global project, in today’s chapter, breaks all records for foolishness…

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

Propped up in my chair while the sky slowly changes in the dawn, I can’t help but think about project management when I read today’s chapter. But the scope and significance of this particular project, is unparalleled. However, just 20 sentences after “the big launch”, the project spokesman is thrown into prison! Surely this has to be the Creator God’s wildest plan yet. Hanging the future of the planet on two people was one thing[b], but it’s now down to One with a winnowing fork in His hand!! [v17]

Whatever’s about to happen, our Maker’s global project has, from start to finish, only ever been about getting humankind back into His “barn”. [v17] This seems to be all what the Creator has ever wanted for those He made in His own image – His project outcome from the beginning.[c] The project requirement for participants seems simple: “produce fruit today, in keeping with repentance”.[v8] In other words, anyone wanting to tap into this global initiative, will need to keep making 180◦ course corrections every day, to go against the general flow of cultural trends, influences, and even one’s inner-self. [v10-14] If Joshua had once brought the Creator’s people into “the promised land”[d], then Yeshua (Jesus – a variant of Joshua meaning “The Lord is Salvation”) steps out onto Centre Stage now as Project leader – specifically to lead the Creator God’s people into our Father’s Kingdom…

THE LORD’S PRAYER:

   1.   Praise: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven …”

To the Lord, I’ll sing. I’ll sing praises to my Maker, the God of Israel! [Judges 5:3]

   2.   Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…”

Thank-you that when I cry out to You, Father God, You hear my voice. You sent Your “Angel” and brought me out from my place of suffering. [Numbers 20:6]

   3.   Admit: “…Forgive us our sin as we forgive those who sin against us…”

Forgive me Lord, when I refused to listen, and forget Your wondrous deeds. I’m stubborn and want to take charge, but You’re a forgiving God. You’re gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in loving-kindness, and You’ve not forsaken me. [Nehemiah 9:17]

   4.   Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but delivers us from evil.”

If I’ve found favour in Your sight, Lord my God, let me know Your ways that I may know You. Then I’ll find favour in Your sight. [Exodus 33:13]

“For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever. Amen!”
