30 December: A Brave New World

With the New Year two days away and the Creator God’s Epic Drama just two scenes from the end of the script, the story takes an incredible twist…

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

It seems that the heaven that we look at every night, the earth, the sea and “the old order of things” will all pass away. [v1]  According to the Creator God’s predictions, we’re actually heading for a moment in human history where He’ll “wipe the slate clean” and create all things new. “Then He said, ‘Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.’” [v5]

What’s incredible is that – added to the fact that a Believer won’t die but instead, will pass over from death to life[a] – we will actually see this brave new world with our own eyes, in our “LIFEtime”. Nothing of the old order of things – not even death or mourning or crying or pain [v4] – will remain, because the dwelling place of God will now be with man. [v3] And, those who are victorious will inherit all this. [v7]

THE LORD’S PRAYER:

1.   Praise: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven …”

I want to sing to You a new song, O Lord my God. If I could, I’d play skilfully, and shout for joy. [Psalm 33:3]

2.   Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…”

  • Your Country: Teaching and child care staff
  • Yourself: Your “daily bread”[d]
  • Your concerns for today
In my distress I called to You, Lord. I called out and from Your dwelling place, You heard my voice. My cry came to Your ears. [2 Samuel 22:7]

3.   Admit: “…Forgive us our sin as we forgive those who sin against us…”

When I’m being corrected, Father God, help me to remember that no discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, I know that it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who’ve been trained by You. [Hebrews 12:11]

4.   Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but delivers us from evil.”

Deliver us, O God, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You’re the only God. [Isaiah 37:20]

“For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever. Amen!”

When Jesus was questioned, tested, tricked or in His hour of great need, He always spoke things that were previously written in God’s Word.[e] Following these memory verses from ten topics, will help you learn 52 verses from the bible in a year! THIS WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE: Topic = The Creator God’s Salvation Plan
