Few of us have lived in a country where genocide is the order of the day, and execution is a very real possibility. Today’s story is one of unimaginable courage when faced with a choice to kill or be killed…

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
With our daughter studying nursing, we’re opened up to a whole new set of her friends. They’re young, single and have their lives ahead of them. Their choice: to help care for people when they need it most.
The girls in today’s chapter from the Book of the Exodus started their day much like our daughter. However, on their way to work as midwives, they were caught up in a nightmare with only two ways out: to kill or to be killed. Live or die, neither one could mercilessly destroy the life of a child created in the image of the Creator God. [v17]
As sophisticated as Ancient Egypt was; as civilized as pre-WWII Germany was; as stable as Yugoslavia and Rwanda appeared to have been (given everything that we’ve learnt for life in modern days), I pray that I never live to face such a choice. But if genocide and execution is to be part of my story, or the story of our girls – as Jesus predicted[a] – I take this moment today to pray for a development of Godly character in peacetime, that will prepare and strengthen me for right choices in a time of war.

THE LORD’S PRAYER:
1. Praise: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven …”
Because of everything that You have done for me, Lord, I will praise You among the nations. I’ll sing the praises of Your Holy name. [2 Samuel 22:50]
2. Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…”

Your concerns for today
As for me—a foreigner who isn’t connected by birth to Your people, but has come from a distant land because of Your great name, Your mighty hand, and Your outstretched arm—when I come and pray, please hear from heaven, Your dwelling place. Do whatever I asks of You, Lord, so that all people on earth may know Your name and fear You, as Your own people do. [2 Chronicles 6:32-33]
3. Admit: “…Forgive us our sin as we forgive those who sin against us…”
I’ve not departed from Your laws, Father God, because it’s been You Yourself who has taught me. [Psalm 119:102]
4. Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but delivers us from evil.”
Lord, help me to remember that my faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through Your words about Christ. [Romans 10:17]
“For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever. Amen!”
When Jesus was questioned, tested, tricked or in His hour of great need, He always spoke things that were previously written in God’s Word.[d] Following these memory verses from ten topics, will help you learn 52 verses from the bible in a year!
