25 March: The Black Swan

If a specialist were to tell you that an unexpected event (bringing cataclysmically change to everything we’ve ever known) was immanent, would you ignore it? Or, would you prefer to find out more?

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

In business, specialized people are trained to predict “black swans”. The larger the sums involved, the greater the need for vigilance and, no company director wants to hear, “I’m sorry, I didn’t see that coming.”

It’s clear, from the Creator God’s storyline, that something calamitous looms ahead – something we’ll not believe even if we were told.[a] With that said, it isn’t “a black swan” that we can’t prepare for. But if, out of ten lepers in today’s chapter, where only one turned back to acknowledge the good that Father God is doing, it’s possible (with those odds) that only 10% of my readers will take thanking/praising (or even acknowledging the activity of) God” seriously. And so, just as it was in the days of Noah and Lot[b], sudden unthinkable change will wash across the globe. [v26-29] And yet, the response required is simple: with 2,000 years notice, all we have to do is “get on board”.

THE LORD’S PRAYER:

  1. Praise: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven …”
I’ll tell of Your kindnesses, Lord, the deeds for which You’re to be praised! According to all that You’ve done for me—yes, the many good things You’ve done—I’ll speak according to Your compassion and many kindnesses. [Isaiah 63:7]
  1. Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…”

  • Your Country: Parachurch ministries
  • Yourself: A desire to be more like Christ
  • Your concerns for today
I pray that mankind everywhere would pray to You, Father God, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing. [1 Timothy 2:8]
  1. Admit: “…Forgive us our sin as we forgive those who sin against us…”
Show me Your ways, O God, and teach me Your paths. Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Saviour. My hope is in You all day long. [Psalm 25:4-5]
  1. Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but delivers us from evil.”
For those who revere Your Name, Lord, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And we’ll go out and skip about like well-fed calves released from the stall. [Malachi 4:2]

“For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever. Amen!”

When Jesus was questioned, tested, tricked or in His hour of great need, He always spoke things that were previously written in God’s Word.[e] Following these memory verses from ten topics, will help you learn 52 verses from the bible in a year!  THIS WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE: Sharing the Creator God’s Good News
