25 March: The Black Swan

Today’s chapter is about an imminent unexpected event that will cataclysmically change everything we’ve ever known…

In business, we’re trained to predict “the black swans”. The larger the sums involved, the greater the need for vigilance, and no company director wants to hear, “I’m sorry, I didn’t see that coming.”

It’s very clear from what the Creator God has planned, that something cataclysmically looms ahead and it’ll defy everything we’ve ever known. Having said that, it isn’t a black swan that we can’t prepare for. With 2,000 years notice, all we have to do is simply “get on board”.

But, just like the ten lepers in today’s chapter, only one turned back to acknowledge the good that Father God is doing. With that sort of statistic, it’s possible that only ¹⁄₁₀ of my readers will take “praising God” seriously. And so, just as it was in the days of Noah and Lot, sudden unthinkable change will wash over everything we’ve ever known. [v26-29]

  1. Praise: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven …”
I’ll tell of the kindnesses of the Lord, the deeds for which He’s to be praised! According to all the Lord has done for us—yes, the many good things He’s done—I’ll speak according to His compassion and many kindnesses. [Isaiah 63:7]
  1. Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…”

  • Your concerns for today
Father God, I pray that mankind everywhere would pray to You, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing. [1 Timothy 2:8]
  1. Admit: “…Forgive us our sin as we forgive those who sin against us…”
Show me Your ways, Lord, and teach me Your paths. Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Saviour. My hope is in You all day long. [Psalm 25:4-5]
  1. Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but delivers us from evil.”
For those who revere Your name, Father God, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And we’ll go out and skip about like well-fed calves released from the stall. [Malachi 4:2]

“For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever. Amen!”
