Today’s chapter is lovely to wake up to. It holds three incredible pictures and all point to an indescribable elation experienced by a parent when a child is restored to him…

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

Sometimes I become speechless. My brain freezes and I can’t think what to say to my Maker in response to what I’ve just read. Today’s one of those days.

In three separate stories Jesus shows how Father God Himself – the Creator who made us all in His own image – goes out of His way to find us wherever we are: down a pit at the bottom of life’s experience[a], caught in brambles ensnared and trapped by life[b], or just wandering aimlessly like a sheep without a shepherd.[c] The stories are designed to show that religion, righteousness, or finding God has only ever been about human image-bearers coming to their senses; taking stock of their situation and drawing one simple conclusion: that it’s better “back home” where Father God is – under His care, protection and provision.

THE LORD’S PRAYER:

   1.   Praise: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven …”

May I shout for joy to You Lord, and join all the earth in doing so. [Psalm 100:1]

   2.   Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…”

Lord, help me to trust You daily because faith is confidence in what we hope for and an assurance about what we can’t see. [Hebrews 11:1]

   3.   Admit: “…Forgive us our sin as we forgive those who sin against us…”

Father, help me to have a wise heart so that I’ll make Your heart glad. When my lips speak what’s right, then Your inmost being will rejoice. [Proverbs 23:1-16]

   4.   Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but delivers us from evil.”

Surely You are my God. I trusted in You and You saved me. This is the Lord in whom I trusted; let me rejoice and be glad in His salvation. [Isaiah 25:9]

“For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever. Amen!”

When Jesus was questioned, tested, tricked or in His hour of great need, He always spoke things that were previously written in God’s Word.[f] Following these memory verses from ten topics, will help you learn 52 verses from the bible in a year! THIS WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE: Giving God’s Good News
