22 February: Today’s Storm Insurance

If I want the key for not just surviving those rough, barren, wastelands encountered throughout life, but also the secret for buying into today’s storm insurance, the chapter below gives me a huge clue…

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

Three Decades of Relationship
3+ Decades of Relationship

Today is our wedding anniversary and for close on four decades, we’ve celebrated knowing each other. All but one of those years, we’ve walked Life’s path as a married couple. So today is a moment for stopping and looking back and it’s certainly been a journey! Our years together have taken us through the heights of great joy, having visited 100+/- countries perhaps experienced by very few couples. Yet together we’ve lived through the dust of barren wastelands; tsunamis of swirling torrents capable of sweeping us away; and uphill battles against cyclonic winds. Through it all, and even after the death of our only son for no apparent reason at all, I’ve become convinced that nothing’s random.

Everything has a purpose and like the people in today’s chapter, for example, our Maker humbled us and tested us at times. [v2] He led us to spiritual food that we did not know and He did this so that we’d understand that no-one can live by bread alone, but by everything that proceeds from the mouth of God. [v3] In all those years, our clothing didn’t wear out (He met all our needs) nor did our feet swell. [v4] Yet we knew in our hearts that the Lord has at times disciplined us just as a man disciplines his son. [v5] That true, we have decided to keep His commandments, walk in His ways, and chose to fear Him. [v6] This is not just today’s storm insurance against the storms in this life. It’s our LIFE Assurance: a relationship with our Maker that assures us of a good future in a permanent home. [v7-10] Read More… CLICK on “22 February – Additional Notes”

   1.   Praise: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven …”

Thank-you Lord that though the mountains may be removed and the hills may shake, Your loving-kindness will not be removed from me. Your covenant of peace will not be shaken because the Lord has compassion on me. [Isaiah 54:10]

   3.   Admit: “…Forgive us our sin as we forgive those who sin against us…”

Father God, help me today to love You and walk in Your ways. Help me to keep Your commandments, statutes and judgments, that I may live and multiply, and that the Lord my God may bless me in the Kingdom that I am entering to possess. [Deuteronomy 30:16]

   4.   Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.”

Jesus said: “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me…” [John 10:27]

“For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever. Amen!”
