A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

Some may define a good leader as someone who’s inspiring. But the problem with that statement is that, depending on the deficiencies and desires of the one following, any variety of attributes can be inspiring – including unscrupulous tendencies behind their successes. Few exercise power with their sleeves rolled up and covered in blood, sweat and tears with actions that say: “Come follow me and I will make you become who I am.”[a] Fewer still, would be willing to wash the feet of the one who, in just a few hours, would betray Him [v18, 21-26], deny knowing Him [v38], and completely abandon Him.[b] Knowing what was to come, John wrote…

“…having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the utmost, eternally, to the end…” [v1]

John then documented into history, a person who demonstrated true love, setting an example for Jesus’ disciples to imitate. [v15-17]
