A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

After the police had taken initial statements, I went up to our son’s room and knelt down beside his lifeless body. Among a myriad of other things that passed through my mind over the next half hour – I wrote about these in my second book Mysterious? …Expect the Unexpected – one final thing was said and done. In response to my prayer: “Lord if You don’t have him, please can You send him back to us”, I heard in my mind the words of today’s chapter…

“Whoever has the Son has LIFE; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” [v12]

In an instant, I knew that our Mikey had hitched up his life-wagon, and his future plans, to his Maker: the God of Creation, the Lord of LIFE, and to the testimony of His Son, just as John had written in this 1st Century letter. With that move, Mikey had certainty of LIFE everlasting, in the Kingdom of his Father God. [v9-11] This certainty of life is God’s gift to us all this Christmas and, in this confidence, we move on…

THE LORD’S PRAYER:

   1.   Praise: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven …”

You’re my strength and my defence, Lord God. You’re my God, and I’ll praise You, for You’ve become my salvation – my father’s God, I’ll exalt You. [Exodus 15:2]

   2.   Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…”

  • Yourself: The renewal of your mind[c]
  • Your concerns for today
In Your kindness, Lord, You’ve promised that we’ll have plenty to eat, until we’re full. We’ll praise the Name of the Lord our God, who has worked wonders for us. Never again will Your people be shamed. [Joel 2:26]

   3.   Admit: “…Forgive us our sin as we forgive those who sin against us…”

Search me, O God, and know what’s in my heart; test me and know my fearful thoughts. See if there’s any odious way in me, and lead me into everlasting LIFE. [Psalm 139:23-24]

   4.   Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but delivers us from evil.”

Thank-you Father God, that since we’ve been justified through faith, we have peace with You through our Lord Jesus Christ. [Romans 5:1]

“For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever. Amen!”

When Jesus was questioned, tested, tricked or in His hour of great need, He always spoke things that were previously written in God’s Word.[d] Following these memory verses from ten topics, will help you learn 52 verses from the bible in a year! THIS WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE: Topic = Spiritual Conflict
