16 August: What’s FAITH?

When extreme religion hasn’t at all given the world a good image, one can be left asking what Faith really looks like…

READ DANIEL 3  Make notes, if you’d like, of what stands out for you. Feel free to use the “Leave a Comment” box below to also write some of your thoughts.

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

Some people today, say that the Creator God’s epic storyline is nothing more than a collection of fairy tales and this chapter is a perfect example. But today’s story, about Daniel’s friends, is so ridiculous that no intelligent people group would think to have it written into their Nation’s records …unless it was actually true!

This is FAITH – a supernatural trust in the Creator God’s Global Plan – from the Book of Genesis right through to the Book of Revelation, and leaving nothing out in between. If you can at all believe that the Creator God said, “Let there be light, and there was light…”[a] then you can equally believe HIStory in today’s chapter i.e. that the Creator sent someone who was every bit a human being in complete form and yet who was equally the son of God, just as Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon, exclaimed! [v24-25] Someone eternal and therefore ‘able’; someone with power over life and death; someone sent, and who came specifically to save, by walking through the fire with us. [v28]

THE LORD’S PRAYER:

   1.   Praise: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven …”

I know that it’s better to take refuge in You, Lord, than to trust in humans. I’ll prefer to take refuge in You, Lord, than to trust in princes. [Psalm 118:8-9]

   2.   Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…”

  • The World: The people of Liechtenstein[c] & Luxembourg[d]
  • Your Country: Corruption at a national level
  • Yourself: Quality time in your Maker’s Handbook
  • Your concerns for today
I’ll call to You, Father God, because You’ll answer me and tell me great and unsearchable things that I do not know. [Jeremiah 33:3]

   3.   Admit: “…Forgive us our sin as we forgive those who sin against us…”

When I go about my daily choices, please help me to remember, Lord, that whoever takes the lowly position (like a child) is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. [Matthew 18:4]

   4.   Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but delivers us from evil.”

You speak righteousness, Lord God, and You’re mighty to save! [Isaiah 63:1b]

“For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever. Amen!”

When Jesus was questioned, tested, tricked or in His hour of great need, He always spoke things that were previously written in God’s Word.[e] Following these memory verses from ten topics, will help you learn 52 verses from the bible in a year! THIS WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE: Topic = Prayer
