A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

The internet defines philanthropy as coming from the Greek word for “love of humanity”. In the sense of caring, nourishing, developing and enhancing what it is to be human on both the benefactor (by identifying and exercising their values in giving and volunteering) and beneficiary (by benefiting). That being so, then today’s chapter uncovers the greatest of all givers whose generous giving and volunteering (even to death) is matched by His love for humanity.[a]

If You Had One Wish
If You Had One Wish

Now I wonder, what you would do if you came face-to-face with the Creator of the Universe and, like a genie in a bottle, He gave you one wish? [v5] Of all the things in the world to ask for, King Solomon asked for wisdom – a discerning heart that knows the difference between right and wrong. [v9] If that isn’t amazing enough, the response he got back was truly out of this world.

“…Moreover, I will give you what you didn’t  ask for…” [v13]

History records the results. Not only did Solomon speak out three thousand proverbs and his songs numbered a thousand and five[b], the transcendent Creator God (who isn’t limited in any way) showed no boundaries when outpouring His limitless “value for giving”.[c]  Read More? … CLICK on “03 June – Additional Notes”

THE LORD’S PRAYER:

   1.   Praise: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven …”

Let me bow down in worship and kneel before You, the Lord my Maker. You’re my God and I’m part of the people of Your pasture – the flock in Your care. [Psalm 95:6-7]

   2.   Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…”

  • Yourself: An eternal perspective
  • Your concerns for today
You who did not spare Your own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how Lord, will You not also, with Him, freely give us all things? [Romans 8:32]

   3.   Admit: “…Forgive us our sin as we forgive those who sin against us…”

If I’m defeated because I’ve sinned against You, and if I return to You and confess Your Name, and pray and make supplication before You, then hear from heaven and forgive my sin. Bring me back to Your dwelling place that You first gave long ago to our forefathers. [2 Chronicles 6:24-25]

   4.   Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but delivers us from evil.”

Don’t let my heart envy sinners, Father God. Help me to instead fear You always. Surely there is a future in You and my hope will not be cut off. Help me listen and be wise. Direct my heart in Your ways. [Proverbs 23:17-19]

“For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever. Amen!”

When Jesus was questioned, tested, tricked, or in His hour of great need, He always spoke the things that were previously written in God’s Word.[f]  Following these memory verses from ten topics, will help you learn 52 verses from the bible in a year! THIS WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE: Using our Gifting…
