A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

Looking through 21st Century lenses, it’s hard to see that plagues and disasters, which threaten to destroy whole nations, as something good from a so-called Good God. An article by the International Business Times, published photos from Portugal that some have dubbed: “The Hand of God”.[a] Photos taken in January 2016 had, within weeks, apparently gone viral on social media! While meteorologists explain the earth’s atmosphere, climate and weather behind the images, bloggers say it appears to be God’s hand holding a fireball. This is then interpreted as a sign that the End Times plagues – described in the Book of Revelations and similar to that experienced by Pharaoh in Ancient Egypt – are again about to begin.

But whether true or not, one thing can be learnt from today’s chapter. Each plague in HIStory, parallels what we now know of the Ancient Egyptian gods. With Egypt in dire straits, this isn’t about a neurotic god wreaking havoc. Each plague is carefully thought through to highlight the futility of belief in created things, while ignoring the Creator who made it all.    4.   Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but delivers us from evil.”

Thank you Lord my God that You’re with me like a victorious warrior. You’ll take pride over me with joy. You’ll quiet me with Your love and You’ll rejoice over me with shouts of joy. [Zephaniah 3:17]

“For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever. Amen!”
