02 June: Clues of Corruption

Corruption is a word we apply to politicians and “fat cats”. But today’s chapter shows how easy it is to find clues of corruption, even when they’re hidden within the fabric of our apparently good and innocent deeds…

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

One of the first arguments that I hear when discussing the Creator God is, how an ancient storyline related to a relatively minor nation couldn’t possibly have any direct bearing on modern life 3,000 years later. But today’s chapter shows the importance of identifying clues of corruption – if you’re willing to take the time to look.

Often we don’t understand the Old Testament and write it off as outdated. We do that because we don’t know enough of Jewish culture and customs, the Creator’s Law, or that at that time, Father God deals directly with people through imminent and immediate Judgement vs a Judgement Day in our future. All God ever wanted was our heart and a change of heart.[a] My job is to pull the principles from the script and look for the clues of corruption that have transferred into my current behaviour and culture…

THE LORD’S PRAYER:

   1.   Praise: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven …”

I praise You, Father God, because You’ve stretched out Your right hand, and the earth swallows Your enemies. In Your unfailing love, You will lead the people You’ve redeemed. In Your strength You’ll guide them to Your holy dwelling. [Exodus 15:12-13]

   2.   Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…”

Praise be to You, God! You’ve not rejected my prayer or withheld Your love from me! [Psalm 66:20]

   3.   Admit: “…Forgive us our sin as we forgive those who sin against us…”

As I make my choices today, Lord, help me to remember that: whoever claims to live in Him must live as Jesus did. [1 John 2:6]

   4.   Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but delivers us from evil.”

Save Your people and bless Your inheritance, O Lord. Be my shepherd and carry me forever. [Psalm 28:9]

“For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever. Amen!”

When Jesus was questioned, tested, tricked or in His hour of great need, He always spoke things that were previously written in God’s Word.[d] Following these memory verses from ten topics, will help you learn 52 verses from the bible in a year!  THIS WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE: Using our Gifting
