Millenniums before infrared thermography was invented, this chapter documents the moment when the everyday appearance of an otherwise normal human being, was suddenly and perplexingly transformed…

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
Unlike anything handed down from ancient times, the Creator’s story continues to confound and surprise His readers. While seemingly impossible at the time, sooner or later we discover that nothing is impossible to God.[a] And now, today’s chapter, Jesus’ “transfiguration” allows us a glimpse into “resurrection life”. But what’s it all mean?
Humans were originally made in the image of God.[b] The word “man” or “mankind” refers to a creature who is a mortal image of the Creator God. Just as it is with thermal imaging, we’ll one day see (without a need for a scanner) just what “our image” is like – as we’re created to be, in the image of the Creator.[c] This record of Jesus’ transfiguration reveals four things. When our Eternal Life begins, our bodies will radiate our Maker’s glory. [v3] We’ll also be recognisable as who we are – the disciples immediately knew Moses and Elijah though they lived many centuries earlier. [v4] Our natural reaction will be to hold on the moment and try to remain together forever. [v5] So then, far from being fearful of what comes after death, my skin tingles at all the possibilities!

THE LORD’S PRAYER:
- Praise: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven …”
No one is like You, Lord! You’re great, and Your name is mighty in power. Who should not fear You, King of the nations? This is Your due: among all the wise leaders of the nations and in all their kingdoms, there is no one like You! [Jeremiah 10:6-7]
- Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…”

Your Country: Needs of work & school friends
Yourself: Your “daily bread”
Your concerns for today
I turn to You, Lord God, and plead with You in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes. [Daniel 9:3]
- Admit: “…Forgive us our sin as we forgive those who sin against us…”
I want to own up to my faults, Father God. I’m troubled by my sin. Forgive me! [Psalm 38:18]
- Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but delivers us from evil.”
The Spirit I’ve received from You, Lord, doesn’t make me a slave, so that I live in fear again. Rather, Your Spirit brought about my adoption, and by You I cry, “Abba, Father.” [Romans 8:15]
“For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever. Amen!”
When Jesus was questioned, tested, tricked or in His hour of great need, He always spoke things that were previously written in God’s Word.[f] Following these memory verses from ten topics, will help you learn 52 verses from the bible in a year!
