A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
Remaining at a shallow level, just one look at a chapter like this one would make it easy to discard it as ancient tribal ritual that is seriously outdated today. However, taking a moment to go a bit deeper, would uncover the greatest act of love ever to be bestowed upon humankind. It’s the story of “Atonement”. The day when it became possible for a scapegoat to take away all our sins, all our failures and regrets, so that we would finally be make right again with our Maker.
The only question left now is: Who? Who is the ultimate scapegoat? Who can fully restore not just a nation once a year, but who can save the world[a] so that we can ALL be made right (right-eous) such that where the story came off the rails in Genesis 3, we are fully restored back again in our relationship with the One who made us to be like Him? THE LORD’S PRAYER:
