A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
With the Book of Genesis (Act One in this epic Play) behind us, and Act Two (the Book of Exodus) only just getting started, I now realize that to fully understand all remaining 65 Acts in this Universal Drama, I have to get my head around the Match that was Made in Heaven…
The One who created us to be like Him was looking for a family, a whole people group who’ll commit to Him until death do us part. So, through a divine encounter involving a burning bush [v2-3], Moses is chosen as “the best man” commissioned to collect “the bride”. [v10]
Like every husband-to-be, the Most High God made up His own mind, whom He’d choose. His choice for His love story: the “Dalit” slave population of Ancient Egypt – the Children of Israel. But like Joseph in the Book of Genesis, Moses learnt the hard way what the qualifying characteristics are for the hardest job on earth. His training included 40 years of solitude, labour and obscurity and his mandate: to collect, release, and then shepherd God’s sheep – His chosen LIFE partner – to the place He prepared in advance for them to go.

We may encounter periods of “desert places” during our life-journey – seasons of wondering what we’re doing there and what’s next. Properly used, though, that time can equip us in ways we’d never dream possible. Without deserts, we’re likely not have deliverers.

THE LORD’S PRAYER:
1. Praise: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven …”
I praise You, Lord, because you’ve been given dominion, glory and a Kingdom so that all the peoples, nations and men of every language might serve You. Your dominion is an everlasting dominion that won’t pass away. Your Kingdom is one which will not be destroyed. [Daniel 7:14]
2. Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…”

I thank You, Lord, that “…the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, went up before God out of the angel’s hand…” [Revelation 8:4]
3. Admit: “…Forgive us our sin as we forgive those who sin against us…”
I will meditate on Your precepts, Father God, and have careful regard for Your ways. [Psalm 119:15]
4. Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but delivers us from evil.”
You save an afflicted people, but Your eyes are on the haughty who will be brought down. You are my lamp, O Lord. You illuminate my darkness. [2 Samuel 22:28-29]
“For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever. Amen!”
