A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
This chapter in Genesis is the first recorded vision of anything related to what heaven – the dwelling place of the Creator God – could be like. Abraham’s grandson, Jacob, saw what looked like a stairway to heaven. [v10-12] Through this, I think that the Creator has confirmed two things for me today: (i) His Global Plan can be passed down even to the third and fourth generation of those who trust Him; and (ii) our Maker can even use people like Jacob – a grasping deceiver who was escaping the death threats of his brother after Jacob lied and tricked their father, Isaac, into handing over the family blessing.[a]
But Isaac knew that God couldn’t be tricked by humans. His parting words to Jacob [v3-4], tell me that only God can bring about His own Plan and He’ll do it as He wills it. [v13-15] …Read More… CLICK on “16 January – Additional Notes”

THE LORD’S PRAYER:
1. Praise: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven …”
I will praise the Lord while I live! I’ll sing praises to my God while I have my being. [Psalm 146:2]
2. Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…”

Your concerns for today
Jesus said, “…all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” [Matthew 21:22]
3. Admit: “…Forgive us our sin as we forgive those who sin against us…”
Father, as I go about my daily choices, help me to remember what You said long ago: “Behold, I am fashioning calamity against those who do evil and devising a plan against them. So turn back, each of you from your evil way; reform your ways and your deeds.” [Jeremiah 18:11]
4. Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but delivers us from evil.”
Lord thank-you that in You the weapons of the mighty are shattered, but the feeble are girded with strength. [1 Samuel 2:4]
“For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever. Amen!”
