In an age where divorce is easy and considered right for the sake of happiness, today’s chapter is about being happy with who I am, as I am…

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
If the world seems inclined towards falling apart rather than naturally holding together – and this is primarily seen in the breakdown of relationships – how is that affecting my attitude and behaviour today? In a “Divorce with Ease” society that responds: “Hey, everybody does it!” – how is my conduct affecting my Maker’s account of my life?
Today’s chapter relates to the current situation in the culture of many countries today, where broken relationships are acceptable and divorce is easy, if not advised as the best option! Outside of Jesus teaching[a], Paul was one of the first, by mid-late 1st Century AD, to reduce the state of the world into an achievable practical response for my own personal life. First, I need to take the focus off me and my needs, long enough to see my Creator’s bigger picture. With His big picture: His plans and purposes in my mind [v7], I’m more able to be content with what I have [v17], where I am, and who I’m with. [v20] I want His perspective on my everyday difficulties. [v29-31]

THE LORD’S PRAYER:
1. Praise: “Our Father in Heaven, how great is Your name! Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven…”
I’ll praise You Lord because You wrap Yourself in light like a garment. You stretch out the heavens like a tent and lay the beams of Your upper chambers on their waters. You make the clouds Your chariot, and You ride on the wings of the wind. [Psalm 104:2-3]
2. Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…”

Your concerns for today
I pray for Your great Day, Lord God, Maker of Heaven and Earth, when every tongue acknowledges that Jesus is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. [Philippians 2:11]
3. Admit: “…Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us…”
Help me to be like your ancient servants, Father God, who saw visions and dreamed dreams because their lives were centred on speaking and praying, confessing personal sin and the sin of their nation, making requests to You about real issues. [Daniel 9:20-21]
4. Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one…”
Thank-you Lord, that it’s You who brought me and my family up out of our own personal ‘land of slavery’. You’ve performed great signs before my eyes and You’ve protected me on my entire journey among all the nations through which I’ve travelled. [Joshua 24:17]
“ For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory for ever and ever. Amen”
