06 June: Anatomy of the Human Soul

In a world that judges by outward appearances, today’s chapter shows what you look like inside – viewed through a stained-glass window…

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

The Dwelling Place of God's Holy Spirit
The Dwelling Place of God’s Holy Spirit

Some people just don’t get the Creator’s storyline at all. The easiest response is to ignore it – especially the Old Testament. But the problem is, it comprises not just the foundation blocks upon which our soul stands before our Maker, but two-thirds of its structure as well. If every leaf from every chapter were living cells that make up the anatomy of the human soul, then tearing away the Old Testament from our understanding, is like removing two-thirds of our organs from our body – including our skin that holds it all together. Neither our spirit nor our body could continue to exist under such circumstances.

But what possible benefit could be gained from the Creator compiling a detailed record of the inside of the Jerusalem Temple then, miraculously preserving it for more than three millenniums for us to read today? Well… one thought I had was in the possibility of the uncontainable (transcendent) Creator God actually making His “dwelling place” with man.[a] Now if my body is the “temple of the Holy Spirit” who lives in me[b], today’s chapter is like looking through a stained-glass window at the exquisite detail of the inside of my soul – the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit of God. Read More? …CLICK on “06 June – Additional Notes”

THE LORD’S PRAYER:

   1.   Praise: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven …”

Before the mountains were born, Father God, or You gave birth to the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are the Lord, my God. [Psalm 90:2]

   2.   Ask: “…Give us today our daily bread…”

  • The World: Pray for Greenland[d] and Grenada[e]
  • Your Country: Social Workers and Family Crisis teams
  • Yourself: Your financial needs
  • Your concerns for today
Thank-you that You, Lord, make the storm clouds. You’ll give us showers of rain, provisions of vegetation in the field to each human. [Zechariah 10:1]

   3.   Admit: “…Forgive us our sin as we forgive those who sin against us…”

As I make my daily choices, Lord God, help me to remember that to the faithful, You show Yourself kind. To the blameless, You show Yourself blameless. With the pure, You show Yourself complete with full integrity. But to the devious, twisted, or perverted you show yourself well judging. [2 Samuel 22:26-27]

   4.   Protect: “…Lead us not into temptation but delivers us from evil.”

I know love by this, that You, Lord my God, laid down Your life for me; and that I ought to lay down my life (my self-centred will) for those around me. [1 John 3:16]

“For Yours Lord is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever. Amen!”

When Jesus was questioned, tested, tricked or in His hour of great need, He always spoke things that were previously written in God’s Word.[f] Following these memory verses from ten topics, will help you learn 52 verses from the bible in a year! THIS WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE: Using our Gifting
